The Galaxy S20 Ultra is the latest released flagship smartphone from Samsung which was released early this year on February 12 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max which also was released last year in September.
These mentioned two smartphones are flagship and authority devices from these two respected brands. They come with high-end specifications and large displays at a high cost.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Vs iPhone 11 Pro Max Comparison
Looking at the design of these two smartphones, they all look pretty good.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with a square-shaped camera module which houses four sensors and a single led flash, there is a Samsung branding at the lower part of the back.
iPhone 11 Pro Max on the other hand comes with a square camera module housing three sensors.
As always, it has an Apple logo at the centre of the rear to show you are holding an Apple device. The back of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is made from glass which is a Gorilla Glass 6.
It has an aluminum frame while the iPhone 11 Pro Max back is also made from glass but it has a stainless steel frame.
The S20 Ultra weighs 222grams with a dimension of 166.9 x 76 x 8.8 mm while the 11 Pro Max weighs 226grams with a dimension of 158 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm.
S20 Ultra uses a Hybrid SIM slot while the 11 Pro Max only uses a Dual SIM slot with no memory card slot.
They both spot IP68 dust or water-resistant but the iPhone 11 Pro Max will survive under 4m of water for 30mins, unlike the S20 Ultra which can survive 1.5m of water for 30mins.
They support Samsung Pay and Apple Pay respectively.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra comes in two colors which are Cosmic Grey and Cosmic Black while the 11 Pro Max comes in four colors namely; Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Midnight Green (matte colors).
So which design is better here?
Well in terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra looks more beautiful and attractive. It also has a smaller width than the iPhone 11 Pro Max which makes it more compact and more grip able, unlike the 11 Pro Max which has a wider body. Durability wise, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is more durable.
According to a test, these two smartphones were dropped from a high building and the iPhone 11 Pro Max survived while the S20 Ultra is struggling to survive.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max has a matte finish that doesn’t feel slippery and easy to grip while the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a glass back which is quite smooth and slippery especially if your hands are wet.
So all in all, the design on the S20 Ultra is better and attractive while durability goes to the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Even the iPhone 11 Pro Max weighs more than the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra but it is more durable. It has a stainless steel frame which is 2x stronger than S20 Ultra’s aluminum frame.
Coming to the display, the first thing you would notice is that huge notch cut-out overhead on the iPhone 11 Pro Max which makes it a little bit outdated and ugly.
But the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with a tiny punch hole cut-out situated at the centre of the display.
Also, the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a smaller chin and bezels than the iPhone 11 Pro Max which makes it to come with a screen to body ratio of 89.9% and iPhone 11 Pro Max 83.7% respectively.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra uses a Dynamic AMOLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 by 3200 pixels.
While the iPhone 11 Pro Max uses a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1242 by 2688 pixels.
The display on the S20 Ultra is taller with 6.9inches while the iPhone 11 Pro Max display has a 6.5inches size.
Colour reproduction on the S20 Ultra will be more shaper and vibrant as it has a 511 pixels per inch density.

In terms of hardware and software, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which uses an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.73GHz, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with an Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset which uses a Hexa core processor clocked at 2.65GHz.
The S20 Ultra is running on Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2 on top while the iPhone 11 Pro Max is running on Apple’s iOS 13 out of the box but it is now upgradable to iOS 13.3 version.
Both the chipsets powering these two smartphones are running on a 7nm+ process.
For graphics or gaming, the S20 Ultra comes with an Adreno 650 GPU while the iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with Apple’s GPU (4-core graphics).

Galaxy S20 Ultra has a micro SD card slot for storage expansion and it uses a UFS 3.0 storage type while the iPhone 11 Pro Max doesn’t have a micro SD card slot but uses an NVMe storage type.
When it comes to the hardware and software aspect, Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset is more optimized and can be faster than the S20 Ultra’s Snapdragon 865 chipset.
So the iPhone 11 Pro Max is a bit faster than the Galaxy S20 Ultra but the S20 Ultra makes better use of RAM, it can Keep your application for long without rebooting it.

Coming to the photography department, the S20 Ultra uses quad rear cameras of 108-mega pixels main camera, 48-mega pixels telephoto lens, 12-mega pixels ultra-wide camera, and a 0.3-megapixels TOF sensor.
On the front, it has a 40-mega pixels camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, comes with a triple rear camera which includes a 12-mega pixel main camera, 12-mega pixels telephoto lens, and a 12-mega pixel ultra-wide lens.
On the front, it has a 12-mega pixel camera for selfies or video calls with an f/2.2 aperture.

On the other hand, the 11 Pro Max comes with a 3,969 mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging (50% in 30 min) and Qi wireless charging with USB Power Delivery 2.0.
The S20 Ultra will last longer and will also charge up quickly. For security, the S20 Ultra uses an under-display fingerprint scanner while the 11 Pro Max only makes use of Face ID.
Connectivity-wise, the S20 Ultra also has a 5G network for a faster internet connection while the 11 Pro Max only uses a 4G LTE network.
